Southern Distilling Company is located at the “Crossroads for the Future” in Statesville, North Carolina. Southern Distilling Company adopts the spirit of America’s boundlessly innovative craft distilling industry. It’s been over a century since the city of Statesville was touted as the “liquor capital of the world” in the 1880s. Prior to Prohibition, the city of Statesville was widely known for the production of high-quality whiskeys and brandies. Statesville is home to hundreds of local farm distilleries and some of the largest spirits wholesalers in the East.

Southern Distilling Company was founded in the year 2013 by Pete and Vienna Barger as a way to tap into home and heritage and revive the legacy of these deep distilling roots. The company aims to provide the highest quality distilled spirits available to both the local regional and global customers who desire a sense of truth and place in the drinks they enjoy.

Today, a modern two-story glass-fronted destination distillery houses an innovative, state-of-the-art craft distillery in 25,000 square feet, sited on 20 comfortable acres of agricultural farmland and old growth hardwood trees. At 40 feet high, the tallest stainless steel and copper column still system in North Carolina is found inside the glass-enclosed production area, along with a copper pot still system for handcrafted small batch and limited-edition products. Some of the Carolina’s tastiest high-quality bourbon, rye whiskey, brandies, and other tasty products flow through their exclusive custom-designed “Double Barrel” spirit safe before being bottled by hand onsite. They pride themselves in working with local farmers to support their agricultural community and look forward to serving them the most delicious spirits around! They are conveniently located in close proximity to the many Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek area wineries and are only a 1-2-hour drive from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Asheville, and the Virginia state line. Whatever point you’re traveling from on the compass, be sure to catch sight of their gleaming copper still through their rooftop “dog house”, as well as their massive 4,000-gallon shiny dimpled stainless-steel fermentation tanks through the front glass while heading down I-77. You can’t miss them! They welcome you to come in, say hey, take a tour and then carry home a bottle of the best darn bourbon or rye whiskey around!

In addition to their tours and tastings, they also offer other contract distilling services such as private label production, barrel storage and warehousing, and co-packaging services for spirits brand owners, wholesalers and retailers. The distillery tasting room, conference room & lounge suite are also available for rental as destination event spaces for corporate meetings and special occasions.

Private Label Production & Co-Packaging

Processing room on-site for blending and batching barrel-aged spirits, unaged spirits, flavoured vodkas and whiskeys, liqueurs and any other spirits imaginable. Semi-automatic bottling line with the ability to label both round and square bottles in varying sizes. Finished goods warehousing available. Dual bay loading dock with easy access to Interstate-77 at the Interstate-40 interchange in Statesville, NC. Production scale enables us to produce contract product on short lead times. 3,000 square foot tasting room event space is available to clients for brand demonstration and tasting events.

Bonded Warehouse Barrel Storage & Barrel Brokering

Fully sprinkled high bay, 11,000 square foot bonded barrel storage warehouse. The available storage volume of 4,000 barrels. Their expansion plans include two additional dedicated barrel warehouses on the 20-acre farm adjoining the distillery property.

Custom Spirits Production, Batching and Blending.

Their skilled production team can assist with custom mash bill development. The new product development process includes the option of small batch R&D to select ideal mash bills.
