Napareuli’s Twins Wine House

Exploring Georgian Winery Twins Wine House in Napareuli, the leading Qvevri wine manufacturer by Georgian traditional technology.

Twins Wine House is a Georgia based winery established in Napareuli in 2005. Named after the twin brothers Gia and Gela Gamtkitsulashvili, who opened this Georgian winery, Twins Wine House produces wines by ancient Georgian traditional technology.

Nowadays, the Twins Wine House possesses 107 Qvevris (underground clay jar to store wine) with a capacity of 3.5 to 4.5 tons. They produce their wines using harvested in Napareuli micro-zone that gives moderated tannins and the taste profile to their wines. Fermentation in Qvevri occurs together with the grape pomace which gives their wine its amber color for white wines. The Qvevris are closed for 5 or 6 months and usually in March started to open Qvevris. The chacha is removed and distilled to make Chacha. The wine offers floral notes and the finish has mild tannins. After the fermentation, the remaining pomace is not extracted from wine, opposite to it is left in the Qvevri for 5 to 6 months to undergo natural filtration. Wine taken from Qvreri in the month of March is distinguished with clarity and aroma.

What is Qveri?

Qvevri is a handmade clay pot, that inserted in the ground and used for fermentation, filtration and storage wine. Average Qvevri capacity in our factory 3.5-4 tones. Fermentation wines in Qvevri is a Georgian traditional technology. In 2013, UNESCO added the ancient traditional Georgian winemaking method using the Qvevri clay jars to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists

  1. "SAPERAVI'' QVEVRI RED DRY 0.75 LITERS

Saperavi Red Dry Wine is made in Napareuli microzone from the best grapes of Saperavi species. It is made by the fermentation in Qvevri based Georgian traditional technology. The Wine has an elegant dryness and tasteful features, the abundance of Saperavi species, the harmonious taste of tannins and cherry tones.

ABV: 12.5%

  1. "RKATSITELI" QVEVRI WHITE DRY 0.75 LITERS"

Rkatsiteli White Dry Wine is made in Napareuli microzone from the best grapes of Rkatsiteli species harvested in the Kakheti region. It is made by the fermentation in Qvevri based on family traditions. The Wine goes through the natural filtration process in Qvevri for 6 months. The Wine has an elegant dryness and tasteful features, the abundance of Rkatsiteli species, the harmonious taste of tannins.

  1. ''KHIKHVI'' QVEVRI WHITE  DRY 0.75 LITERS

Khikvi is an ancient grape sort in Georgia. The Grape was harvested in the Napareuli microzone Kakheti region. It is made by the fermentation in Qvevri based on family traditions. The Wine goes through the natural filtration process in Qvevri for 6 months. The Wine has an elegant dryness, tasteful features, and taste of tannins

In 2014, twin brothers also founded the Qvevri Wine Museum consisting of an 8-meter pitcher statue and several halls that describe the entire process of pitcher production and pitching. The museum features a collection of 15 years of Twins Wine House wines, different archival photographs and information on Georgian vine varieties, pitcher, wine cellar, and winepress. The most attractive part of the museum is the three 500-liter 1/3 cut pitchers with glass covered. Here, visitors can observe the entire process of putting down the wine, squeezing, boiling, self-cleaning, natural filtration, extraction of wine and chutney, etc. This museum operates daily from 9 am to 11 pm, Tickets are required to visit this museum.
