Wine

Castle winery&vineyards manage over 520 ha of vineyards located in three wine-growing subareas, covering almost the entire wine-growing region in the south-eastern part of the Czech Republic. Each region gives wine different tastes and character, so there is a great diversity among them. Bzenec and the castle winery have been among the important wineries for centuries. The local town was already decorated by grapevine in 1223. The winery is located in the beautiful and romantic surroundings of the Castle Bzenec, built in a pseudo- Gothic style. The wine production builds on the significant history of this place, where the first sparkling wine in Bohemia and Moravia was made in 1876. The annual production is about 5 million bottles. Focus is mainly on the production of white wines from traditional Moravian varieties, such as Riesling, Welschriesling, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. The winery participates in a number of international and Czech competitions, where they regularly receive significant awards. Among the most valuable belongs National Wine Salon of the Czech Republic (the 100 best wines of the Czech Republic), where they won five titles of the absolute Champion. Other achievements are also from some of the biggest international competitions, such as International Wine Challenge London, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the Decanter World Wine Awards in London and the Prague Wine Trophy and Bacchus Madrid.
