Crystal Rain distillery was founded in 2019 in Lake Forest IL by Kristian Hristov. Like every small producer during the Covid-19 pandemic, Crystal Rain was producing hand sanitizers. Their passion for creating high quality spirits had to wait till the end of 2021 when Kristone Vodka started to appear on the market. In the beginning of 2021 the distillery was relocated and found a permanent home in Wheeling IL. With over 200,000 proof gallons capacity and combination of traditional still and two column stills entirely made out of copper, Crystal Rain is one of the biggest craft distillers in Illinois. The distillery will feature a restaurant and it’s expected to open for visitors toward the end of 2022. The team is experimenting with different whiskey and brandy recipes, which potentially will be bottled in late 2023.
