Follow us and see how true is that affirmation.Pío del Ramo cultivates a selection of acres located at the best plains of plateaus where he gently takes care of his vines, from their origin until gathering. Our winery has several vine plots, carefully farmed and located on calcareous soil (the best suited for production, given the concentration produced) in Jumilla, Ontur, Albatana and Chinchilla.Most of our vineyards are located around the municipalities of Ontur, Albatana and Jumilla; at about 700 meters (about 2296 ft.) above sea leavel, and sheltered by Denominación de Origen Jumilla. Denominación de Origen Jumilla, located at the south-east in Spain, is characteristic by ample valleys and plains, with occasional mountains. It’s a transition zone between the Mediterranean east coast and the Castile la Mancha. The most representative variety of the region and of Denominación de Origen Jumilla. We have separated two zones of Monastrell grape based on the age of the vines: the younger one, formed by vines that were planted in 2006, is located in Finca del Cuco (literally “the Estate of the Cuckoo”, because of the egg-shaped place where the estate is located). The zones with the older Monastrell grapes can be found on plots with vines over 50 years old. These are the base of our greatest wines. They are goblet-trained under a strict dryland farming procedure. Production performance is low, but highly concentrated, thus achieving the typical character and personality of this variety.
